West End entertainment this week

Events we’re looking forward to

If you’re feeling down that this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is cancelled, never fear as The Showstoppers are here to save the day. On 15th May, they’ll be presenting their alternative, over-the-top contest, with “representatives” from 17 countries taking to the mic, as well as special guests. You’ll even be able to vote for your favourite, so get ready for a night of Europop in your living room.

How we’re staying fit

Wicked ensemble member Michael Colbourne presents “Lockdown Live London”, a series of home workouts designed to get you off your feet and moving around! Each week, there’s West End themed exercises, with cast members from Strictly Come DancingThe Book of Mormon and Six all joining in. What are you waiting for?

What we’re streaming online

Cats is the latest Andrew Lloyd Webber musical to be made available to watch as part of “The Shows Must Go On” series, with a 24-hour viewing period in the UK and 48 hours everywhere else. Based on T. S. Eliot’s “Old Possum Book of Practical Cats”, see a filmed version of the multi-award-winning musical starring Elaine Paige as Grizabella.

What music we’re listening to

Stuck indoors working from home? Wish you could be your own boss in lockdown? Well, listen to the empowered women in 9 to 5, previously at the Savoy Theatre. Sadly, the musical’s now closed in London, but the soundtrack is sure to bring all your favourite memories flooding back, with performances from Caroline Sheen, Amber Davies and Bonnie Langford.

What video we’re loving

Enjoy the latest Disney singalong, as a whole host of film stars and Broadway performers including Merle Dandridge, Heather Headley, Adam Jacobs and Caissie Levy perform “You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan.
