What to watch from the West End this week

James Graham’s This House

It’s 1974. Britain has a hung parliament. With an economic crisis looming, Westminster rings with the sounds of backstabbing, fist fights and sickness. In a time when every vote counts, how can politicians convince each other and wider society to get the job done? Offering insight into British politics James Graham’s This House is the latest play to be streamed online as part of the National Theatre at Home series. The original production will be made available, but it’s also enjoyed two sold-out National Theatre runs, a West End transfer and a national tour.

What series we’re watching on television

All week long, we’ll be watching Unprecedented, a series comprised of 14 brand new plays either set or themed around lockdown. Championing the innovative ways communities have come together, a star-studded line-up including Katherine Parkinson, Alison Steadman, Arthur Darvill and Rory Kinnear will all feature.

What we’re looking forward to

On Wednesday 27th May, we’ll be tuning into BBC Four to watch the televised premiere of BalletBoyz 20th anniversary show, Deluxe. The hour-long show features brand new choreography based on acclaimed spoken word pieces, as well as original stories.

What viral video we’re loving

Enjoy the original cast of Matilda the Musical come together to perform a unique rendition of “When I Grow Up”. The musical continues to entertain audiences at the Cambridge Theatre, and it’s become one of the capital’s longest-running shows.
