Anna’s Afternoon tea is named after Anna Russell, Duchess of Bedford. She was known to complain of ‘having that sinking feeling’ in the afternoon, the lull between lunch and dinner, and insisted on having something to satisfy her hunger before dining late. This became something of a ritual, giving birth to the idea of the Afternoon tea.
