About Greenwich Day Explorer

Save 20% and explore Greenwich with a visit to The Royal Observatory & The Cutty Sark and visit them in the order you like!

The Royal Observatory is the historic home of British astronomy, Greenwich Mean Time and the world-famous Meridian Line. Established in the 17th century and designed by Sir Christopher Wren, it was from here that the great scientists of the time precisely mapped the stars to help navigate at sea.

Stand aside the Meridian Line with one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one in the west. The Greenwich Meridian was chosen to be the Prime Meridian of the World back in 1884 and is world famous ever since. Walk in the footsteps of the Astronomers Royal, discover their stories, and experience the past, present and future wonders of astronomy, space and the stars.

Visit Cutty Sark and experience what life was like on board a true survivor of the seas and discover the epic story of a sailing legend. Venture aboard and beneath one of the world’s most famous ships – the last surviving tea clipper, and the fastest and greatest of her time.

Built in 1869 to carry tea back from China, Cutty Sark survived high seas, storms and mutiny, and travelled far and wide to almost every major port across the globe. Stand on the main deck and marvel at the towering masts and 11 miles of rigging, take the helm at the ship’s wheel, and enjoy fabulous views of the River Thames. Learn about the romance, adventure and danger of life at sea. The exhibits on board the ship bring to life the challenges faced by Capitan and crew.

Both attractions must be visited on the same day.
