On this tour you’ll experience three of England’s most prestigious locations; Windsor Castle, the oldest occupied castle in the world; the 5,000 Year old Stonehenge; and the stunning Georgian city of Bath, famous for its ancient Roman bathhouse.
Windsor Castle is famed for being the home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II. Your time at the castle will include viewing the fantastic state apartments which are still used regularly for state occasions, St Georges Chapel, which houses the tombs of many Kings and Queens including Henry VIII. You’ll also get the chance to see the world’s most famous dolls house belonging to Queen Mary.
Unravel the mystery of Stonehenge- estimated to have been constructed between 3000 BC - 2000 BC, the arrangement of these massive boulders remains enigmatic to this day. Scholars still argue as to why these 40 ton rocks were brought to the plains of Salisbury Hill, with theories ranging from it being used as a temple of worship to its possible function as an astronomical clock.
The beautiful city of Bath was the first in England to be named as a World Heritage Site. Youll enjoy a panoramic tour of this historic city that Jane Austen called her home for a number of years. The tour includes Bath Abbey, where the first British King was crowned in 937 AD, the Pulteney Bridge which is modeled on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence and the amazing architecture of the famous Royal Crescent.
Of course you will visit the Roman Baths that made this city famous, the best preserved Roman Spa from the ancient world but then tantalizingly hidden from view until the 1870’s.
Lunch is included and will be served in a traditional English pub en route.
Unique feature included in this tour is the opportunity to drink a glass of spa water straight from the historic Pump Rooms.
This tour is operated by Golden Tours, London’s leading sightseeing company and part of the international Grayline family.
Please note: Windsor Castle is a working royal palace and planned closures/disruptions may be subject to change. When the state apartments are closed the Precincts, Queen Mary’s Dolls House and the Drawings Gallery will continue to be open.
