Having enjoyed a continuous off-Broadway run since 2009, take a trip to Avenue Q in New York for your next theatre experience. A tongue-in-cheek look at what happens after college, the musical features unique songs including “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist” and “The Internet Is for Porn”. Written by the creators behind South Park and The Book of Mormon, the musical features an ensemble of humans and puppets in a small-cast musical with a giant heart.
The cast stars Matt Dengler (as Princeton & Rod), Veronica J. Kuehn (as Kate Monster & Lucy the Slut), Nicholas Kohn (as Brian), Lacretta (as Gary Coleman), Jason Jacoby (as Nicky, Trekkie Monster, Bad Idea Bear & Others), Grace Choi (as Christmas Eve), and Jamie Glickman (as Mrs T., Bad Idea Bear & Others).
As 22-year-old Princeton graduates college and moves to Avenue Q, he is hit by an overwhelming sense that he isn’t going anywhere. Trying to decide his future pathway, he meets his neighbours Kate Monster, Brian and Gary Coleman who show him what it means to live in the worlds. Puppets and humans side by side may seem silly, but lessons in relationships, careers and helping one another allow everyone to discover their purpose.
Recommended age for children is 12 and up. No children under 4 admitted. All children must have a ticket. Running time for the show is 2 hours and 15 minutes, with a 15 minute interval.
