About Hadestown

What happens when taking a trip to the underworld could help your destiny? Transferring from the National Theatre in London, Hadestown is currently playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Winning eight awards at the 2019 Tonys and the 2020 Grammy Award for best musical theatre album, watch the Ancient Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice unfold, as the young dreamers set out on a rocky road to find true love. With an original score by Anaïs Mitchell that blends folk and jazz, Hadestown is a brand new musical where older tales are given a new lease of life.


The cast includes the Tony Award-winning Reeve Carney (as Orpheus), André De Shields (as Hermes), Amber Gray (as Persephone), Eva Noblezada (as Eurydice), and Patrick Page (as Hades), with Jewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, and Kay Trinidad (as The Fates)

The cast is completed by Anthony Chatmon II, Afra Hines, Timothy Hughes, John Krause, Kimberly Marable.


Combining the mythic tales of Orpheus and Eurydice, as well as King Hades and his wife Persephone, embark on an adventure to the Grecian underworld that’s full of Broadway glamour. When Orpheus and Eurydice are suddenly split from each other, Orpheus must journey to the underworld of Hadestown in order to rescue his true love. Will faith beat doubt, or will the worry of his newly-found situation consume him? A haunting musical rejuvenating a millennium-old myth, Hadestown is a love story for all the ages.


The recommended age for children is 10 and up. Children under 4 are not permitted in the theatre. The running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, with an interval.
