Inspired by Alanis Morrisette’s 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, the musical of the same name will receive its Broadway premiere later this year. Tackling the bigger issues in society, follow a family as they navigate their identities with a soundtrack including ‘Ironic’, ‘Head Over Feet’ and ‘You Oughta Know’. Considered by the New York Times to be a ‘woke musical’ of today, it’s an inspirational musical encouraging audience members to look inside themselves and connect with their inner-most thoughts.
The cast includes Kathryn Gallagher (as Bella), Celia Rose Gooding (as Frankie Healy), Derek Klena (as Nick Healy), Sean Allan Krill (as Steve Healy), Lauren Patten (as Jo), and Elizabeth Stanley (as Mary Jane Healy).
The cast is completed by Annelise Baker, Jane Bruce, John Cardoza, Antonio Cipriano, Ken Wulf Clark, Laurel Harris, Logan Hart, Max Kumangai, Heather Lang, Ezra Menas, Nora Schell, Kei Tsuruharatani and Ebony Williams.
On initial appearance, the Healys seem to be the perfect family. However, their individual problems spiral out of control, leaving family relationships on the brink of collapse. As the mother, Mary Jane feels she has to keep everything together. But, in a family where everyone identifies themselves separate to one another, the Healys have to face the truths within themselves, asking questions about sexuality, mental health and belonging in order to be a part of the wider community.
