WHO’S IN IT?: MACBETH CAST

The cast of Macbeth includes Anna Netrebko (as Lady Macbeth, September 25/28, October 4/8/12), Anna Pirozzi (as Lady Macbeth, October 1), Matthew Polenzani (as Macduff), Plácido Domingo (as Macbeth, September 25/28, October 1), Željko Lučić (as Macbeth, October 4/8/12), Ildar Abdrazakov (as Banquo).

WHAT’S THE STORY?

Raising questions of fate, superstition, guilt, and power, Shakespeare’s timeless drama of ambition and its personal cost is adapted by Giuseppe Verdi. When Macbeth strives to become King of Scotland, he will do anything he possibly can to ensure he sits on the throne. However, this production places the action of the opera in a non-specific, post-World War II Scotland rather than its 11th century origins.

The running time is 3 hours and 4 minutes, including an intermission of 34 minutes.

Sung in Italian with Met Titles in English, German, Italian and Spanish.
