WHO’S IN IT?: MANON CAST

The cast of Manon includes Lisette Oropesa (as Manon), Michael Fabiano (as Chevalier des Grieux), Carlo Bosi (as Guillot de Morfontaine), Artur Ruciński (as Lescaut), Brett Polegato (as De Bretigny) and Kwangchul Youn (as Comte des Grieux).

WHAT’S THE STORY?

Set in 1880s Paris, follow a beautiful young woman who is incapable of forsaking both love and luxury. While the story is firmly set in class and gender issues of the past, join Manon as she soaks up the French atmosphere, with backdrops of the church of St. Sulpice forming important reference points. The opera was originally set in the early 18th century, but the Met’s current production places the story in the late 19th century, the so-called “Belle Époque” and the time when the opera was written.

The running time is 3 hours and 52 minutes, including two intervals of 32 minutes and 27 minutes respectively.

Sung in French with Met Titles in English, German and Spanish.
