WHAT’S THE STORY?

In the late 16th century, Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, has been forced to abdicate her throne and flee her kingdom after the rebellion of her Scottish nobles. At 18, she returned to her native land, following the sudden death of her husband Francis II, having reigned as Queen of France for little more than a year. As Maria and Elisabetta reunite, we met Maria in her final place of confinement, after being imprisoned for over 18 years. Embodying different perceptions of royalty, Maria Stuarda highlights the direct monarchical conflicts that were prevalent.

The running time is 2 hours and 46 minutes, with an interval of 33 minutes.

Sung in Italian with Met Titles in English, German, Spanish and Italian.
