About The Nutcracker 2016

The Nutcracker is classical ballet at its most approachable and visually entrancing – Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without it!

A young girl’s enchanted present leads her to wonderful adventures and a journey through the Land of Snow to the glittering Kingdom of Sweets. Julia Trevelyan Oman’s designs re-create a 19th century image of the festive season, with a family party in full swing, and include a magically growing Christmas tree and a battle between the villainous Mouse King and an army of toy soldiers. When Clara and Hans- Peter finally meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince, they are presented with a sparkling series of divertissements culminating in a grand pas de deux. Peter Wright’s classic production brings this enchanting story vividly to life, and Tchaikovsky’s effervescent score contains a wealth of famous melodies. A fantastic Christmas outgoing for all family.
