John Cranko's wonderful ballet Onegin brings Pushkin's great verse-novel dramatically to life with haunting pas de deux and colourful ensembles to create an intense and passionate journey in dance that reveals Cranko's genius for narrative choreography.
When thee worldly Onegin ruthlessly dismisses Tatiana's adolescent love and dishonours her sister Olga's fiance, he not only seals Lensky's tragic fate but his own downfall too. With beautiful designs by Jurgen Rose - from the simple charm of a Russian country estate to the sophistication of a glittering , high society ball - and a specially created score drawn from Tchaikovsky's music, Onegin is an unforgettable evening of passion , beauty and wonderful choreography with The Royal Ballet.
