About Annie

London’s celebrated revival of Annie features a Tony Award-winning score.

Actor and comedian Meera Syal took over as Miss Hannigan on 27 November, just in time for Christmas!

Miss Hannigan is the role of a lifetime and Meera Syal follows in the footsteps of Craig Revel HorwoodMiranda Hart, Carol Burnett, Sheila Hancock, Sue Pollard and Paul O’Grady to take on one of musical theatre’s best loved villains.

Since making her debut on the Broadway stage in 1977, Annie has charmed audiences the world over, and this production marks the first return of the show to the West End since 1999! Classic songs such as “Little Girls”, “Easy Street”, “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” and the iconic “Tomorrow” fill the auditorium in Nikolai Foster’s 40th anniversary production.

This show is proven to warm your heart and put a smile on your face. Don’t hesitate before booking the most feel-good and genuine family show in the West End.

Meera Syal leads the cast as Miss Hannigan.

Syal is joined by Alex Bourne as Daddy Warbucks (Mamma Mia!, Robinson Crusoe, Kiss Me, Kate), Anne Smith (Mamma Mia!, Evita, Robin Prince of Sherwood) as stand-by for Miss Hannigan/ Mrs Pugh, Jonny Fines (Grease, An Officer and a Gentleman, The Sound of Music) as Rooster and Kate Somerset How (Grease, Puttin' On The Ritz) as Lily.

What's the story?

Based on the popular American comic strip ‘Little Orphan Annie’ by Harold Gray, Annie The Musical tells the story of the young orphan whose life is changed beyond recognition by New York billionaire Oliver Warbucks. When he offers to adopt her from the orphanage, Annie asks the good-natured Warbucks to help her find her real parents, which he willingly agrees to. But with the whopping reward Warbucks offers for the identification of Annie’s parents comes a string of deceit in the form of con artists Rooster and Lily who, with the aid of the wicked Miss Hannigan, hatch a plot to claim the $50,000 reward. Will Annie get her happy ending?
