What's the story?

Based on a true story and adapted from the 2005 Miramax film of the same name, Kinky Boots tells the story of Charlie Price. On the sudden passing of his father, Charlie reluctantly inherits the family’s Northampton shoe factory and returns home, giving up his new life in London. Desperately battling with his own doubts of where he fits in in the world, Charlie struggles to uphold his father’s legacy and save the factory from closure. But help arrives in the most unexpected of forms – local cabaret star Lola.

This fabulous drag queen’s penchant for sturdy stilettos may just be the re-making of the Price & Son shoe factory. Under Lola and Charlie’s supervision, the factory begins to produce “kinky boots” - women’s shoes for men – and hope that this hare-brained scheme may actually turn around the fortunes of the floundering company. Strutting their stuff all the way to a high-profile fashion show in Milan, these fabulous boots help uncover the common ground between two very different men, establishing a solid friendship in an unlikely duo and allowing them to finally be comfortable in their own shoes.
