With the literature of Shakespeare, Marlowe, and Chaucer mixed with the legendary classic rock music of Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler, Knights of the Rose is a larger-than-life tale of love, betrayal and sacrifice.
This high-voltage medieval musical is a magnificent fusion of popular culture, evocative of 'Game of Thrones’ and Bat Out of Hell. Headlined by five unforgettable Bon Jovi masterpieces and accompanied by hits such as “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Wherever You Will Go”, “Don’t Speak” and “He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother”, Knights of the Rose finds court at the Arts Theatre from June for 9 weeks only.
Leading the noble knights is Adam Pearce (Les Misérables and Urinetown) who is joined by Chris Cowley (Wicked), Oliver Saville (Wicked), Rebecca Bainbridge (Mamma Mia!), Rebekah Lowings (Dick Whittington), Matt Thorpe (American Idiot), Ruben Van Keer (Bat Out Of Hell), Katie Birtill (The Last Five Years) and Bleu Woodward (Kinky Boots).
Accompanied by a timeless playlist of classic rock songs, the noble Knights of the Rose must defend their house and their honour. Even as the chivalrous group return from a magnificent victory, a greater threat to the kingdom stirs in the darkness. With betrayal threatening them at every turn, can true love and honour triumph for the Knights of the Rose?
