About Rip It Up

Celebrating the sights and sounds of the swinging sixties, Rip It Up comes to the Garrick Theatre in 2019. Take a ride through the iconic decade and listen to well-known songs from music legends including The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and so many more. Starring four of the best male celebrities from Strictly Come Dancing, Rip It Up is set to be the ultimate musical theatre boyband sensation in the West End.

Rip It Up is led by four of the biggest celebrity talents from Strictly Come Dancing.

Winning the television show in 2011, Harry Judd is best known for being a member of McFly, later joining up with Busted to create McBusted. Throughout his career, he’s had seven number one singles, two number one albums and won a Brit award, playing to hundreds of thousands of people on arena tours throughout the country.

Fellow boyband singer Aston Merrygold leads the cast of Rip It Up after gaining fame as part of JLS. JLS had worldwide success, selling over 10 million records and winning two BRIT awards. Taking part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, he was eliminated halfway through the competition, shocking the public and was dubbed ‘The People’s Champion’.

Olympic gymnast Louis Smith makes up part of the quartet. Throughout his sporting career, he won four Olympic medals in Beijing, London and Rio, winning a silver medal at his last Olympic games. Smith won Strictly Come Dancing in 2012 and later performed on the television show Tumble on the BBC.

Joining the cast of Rip It Up for the first time is Jay McGuiness who took the coveted Strictly Come Dancing crown in 2015. Formerly one fifth of British boyband The Wanted, he quickly became one of the nation’s favourite contestants when he took to the dancefloor, receiving some of the highest scores throughout the competition.
