Based on the children’s book by Sue Townsend, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole transfers to the West End, after a world premiere in Leicester and a run at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Following a young teenager whose consistent worries and fears of his intellectual capacity, it’s set to be a charming, witty musical with an infectiously warm score created by Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary.
The adult cast will star Rosemary Ashe, Ian Talbot OBE, John Hopkins, Lara Denning, Andrew Langtree and Amy Ellen Richardson.
The children to star in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole include Holly Ashton, Matthew Craig, Nicholas Antoniou-Tibbitts, Aaron Gelkoff, Michael Hawkins, Rufus Kampa, Molly May Gibson, Matilda Hopkins, Rebecca Nardin, Riya Vyas, Jack Gale, Aaron Shaw, Charlie Stripp, Kobi Watson, Regan Garcia, Albert Green, Cuba Kamanu and Jeremiah Davan Waysome.
A tale of teenage angst, family issues, Adrian Mole feels misunderstood. At 13 and ¾, he’s a kind-spirit boy who keeps a diary, wondering what would happen if his diary was discovered. Along the way, follow Adrian and his friends including Pandora Braithwaite in a homegrown British musical that’s bursting with energy and a kind heart.
