A story of courage, redemption and new beginnings, join Theatre Royal Stratford East and the English National Opera at Noye’s Fluude, translating to Noah’s Ark. A rarely staged work by Benjamin Britten, the opera follows Noah on the precipice of a new world, but for forty days and nights, he must live and survive on a boat built out of wood.
Casting for Noye’s Fluude includes Suzanne Bertish as God, Louise Callinan as Mrs Noah and Marcus Farnsworth as Mr Noah.
They will be joined by undergraduates from the Royal College of Music and 120 children from Brampton Primary School in Newham and Churchfields Junior School in Redbridge as well as the Stratford East Singers and the English National Opera Community Choir.
The story of Noah’s Ark as told in the book of Genesis is brought to life. When God sends a flood to Earth while he’s angry, Noah builds a boat wide enough and deep enough for his family and animals. For forty days and forty nights, this chorus of unlikely shipmates endure a mighty storm, in the hope a new world awaits them.
