After performances in Edinburgh and at London’s Bush Theatre, the multi-award-winning one-man play Baby Reindeer will receive its West End premiere at the Ambassadors. Starring Richard Gadd and directed by Jon Brittain, it’s a chilling tale of delusion and obsession where being watched may not always be a good thing.
Richard Gadd will reprise his award-winning performance in Baby Reindeer, having premiered the show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019. He’s a British comedian who has performed one-man shows including Monkey See Monkey Do, Waiting for Gaddot and Breaking Gadd. On television, Gadd has appeared in shows including the BBC drama Against the Law and will star in Code 404, and has also written for Netflix’s Sex Education.
“I did question whether I deserved it. Where did my wrongdoing stop and hers begin?”
Richard Gadd gave a free cup of tea to a stranger. It’s a seemingly non-consequential act, a kind thing to do for someone. But, giving a drink to someone marked the fall of his comedy career. What appeared to be a small action had ramifications wider than he could have imagined. In an hour-long play, Gadd shares a highly personal, public autobiography of some of the darkest years of his life.
One act of kindness. Six years of torment.
