About Beginning

Following its sold-out run at the National Theatre, this five star production of David Eldridge's glorious new play Beginning has opened in the West End to rave reviews.

This touching and hilarious look into the loneliness of being a singleton has been dubbed “the (anti) romance for 21st century London, and quite simply, magnificent” by the Evening Standard.

Bursting with compassion and meaning, Beginning is a must-see hit for 2018.

WHO'S IN IT?: BEGINNING CAST

Justine Mitchell (The Plough and the Stars, National Theatre) and Sam Troughton (King Lear, National Theatre) reprise their highly praised roles as singletons Laura and Danny.

What's the story?

Laura’s house-warming party has drawn to a close, it’s the early hours of the morning and her new flat in Crouch End is a tip. Both a little worse for wear, Danny, Laura’s final guest, suggests another drink. What follows is a tender examination of the shame associated with being single in the era of dating apps. Filled with awkward silences and a touch of the ridiculous, the conversation that unfolds is a masterful piece of theatre.
