Delve into an unforgiving world of sexuality and spirituality at Equus, transferring from Theatre Royal Stratford East to Trafalgar Studios. This thrilling play follows the psychological treatment of Alan Strang, whose fascination with horses causes the teenager to do harm to the creatures. Questioning what it means to exist and how to be sane, see a bold new production of Equus which gallops into the West End for just eight weeks.
The cast of Equus will feature six of the cast members from the Theatre Royal Stratford East production. Ethan Kai will reprise his performance as Alan Strang, alongside Robert Finch, Keith Gilmore, Norah Lopez Holden, Ira Mandela and Zubin Varla.
Equus will feature scenes with nudity, strong language and adult themes and is unsuitable for audience members under 16 years of age. There will be strobe lighting during the production for 7 seconds. Equus has an approximate running time of 2 hours 35 minutes.
Psychiatrist Dr. Martin Dysart is tasked with uncovering what lies behind the motives of Alan Strang. A teenager with a fascination for horses, his equine love leads him to blind six horses in a Hampshire stable, but why? As Dysart starts to peer into Strang’s life and choices, a world of spirituality and passion is unlocked, with Strang questioning his motivations and wrestling for a sense of purpose at a troubled time.
