About Indecent

Paula Vogel’s Indecent receives its European premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory, directed by Rebecca Taichman. Accompanied by a small, live klezmer band, it’s a deeply moving play inspired by a shocking kiss between two females in the 1920s, where quick decisions impact futures.

WHO’S IN IT?: INDECENT CAST

The cast of Indecent is completed by Cory English, Beverley Klein, Finbar Lynch, Molly Osborne, Peter Polycarpou, Alexandra Silber and Joseph Timms.

What's the story?

Indecent is based on the events taking place during a performance of Sholem Asch’s 1923 Broadway play The God of Vengeance. As a 1920s cast risked their livelihoods to perform in this controversial play, Indecent explores the impact of the two women sharing a kiss on a Broadway stage nearly 100 years after the event.

A seminal work of Jewish culture or an act of traitorous libel?
