After critically-acclaimed performances in Dublin and New York, Sebastian Barry’s On Blueberry Hill receives its West End transfer at Trafalgar Studios in 2020. Following the lives of two prisoners who spend every waking moment together in jail, see what The New Yorker called a “beautiful, mesmerising, mysterious” play that’s bursting with compassion, exploring what it means to forgive, to love and to survive.
Niall Buggy will play Christy, whose West End credits include an Olivier Award-winning performance in Dead Funny, An Inspector Calls and A Girl With a Pearl Earring. In Ireland, he has starred as the titular role in Uncle Vanya and Aristocrats.
Currently starring in Girl from the North Country, David Ganly will play PJ. In Ireland, Ganly has appeared in Once, Grease, The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz, as well as an Irish tour of The Plough and the Stars.
Sebastian Barry’s latest play follows Christy and PJ, two men who are destined to share their lives as they’re incarcerated for twenty years. Reflecting on an everchanging world outside, the pair become best friends and mortal enemies as they uncover events and face bittersweet consequences. What led them to their cell in Montjoy jail?
