The charming comedy turned musical turned film, starring Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters, has become something of a modern sensation. With a stellar cast and fantastic script this time-tested spectacle is sure to amaze audiences
Directed by triple Olivier Award-winner Maria Friedman, the stellar cast includes Amanda Holden, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Tamzin Outhwaite, Nicola Stephenson and Natalie Casey. They are joined by Dominic Rowan, Judith Barker, Sandra Marvin and Jessica-Alice McCluskey with Janet Behan, Suzy Bloom, Emma Hook, Marcia Mantack, Katie Verner, and Nick Warnford.
Stepping out tells the story of seven women and one man as they attempt to tap their troubles away once a week at a dance class. Initially all left feet, they are forced to come to grips with the basics when asked to perform in a charity gala. Over a period of months we get to know each of the cast members and the stories they have to tell. There’s haughty Vera, mouthy Maxine and uptight Andy; bubbly Sylvia and shy Dorothy; eager Lynne and cheerful Rose and, of course, Geoffrey. At the piano is the dour Mrs Fraser and spurring them all on, the ever-patient Mavis.
