The Kite Runner returns to the West End after an acclaimed run earlier this year at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Khaled Hosseini’s bestselling novel The Kite Runner has accrued international acclaim since being published in 2003 giving way to the award winning
2007 film of the same name. And now this unforgettable tale of friendship comes to life on stage. Hosseini’s original book has sold over 31 million copied worldwide and is now even an A-level set text. Students of the novel and those familiar with the story will love this production as much as those discovering the inspiring story for the first time.
The Kite Runner follows one man’s journey to face up to his past and find redemption. On the eve of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the skies of Kabul are filled with the sounds of excitement and joy as a kite flying tournament gets underway. Two boys, Hassan and Amir, are partaking in the frivolities, unaware of the dreadful incident about to occur that will tear their lives apart.
