Griff Rhys Jones returns to the London stage in a brilliant new adaptation of Moliere’s classic farce The Miser. In a new adaptation by Sean Foley and Phil Porter, Rhys Jones takes on the role of the paranoid Harpagon under the direction of Sean Foley (The Painkiller, The Ladykillers, Jeeves and Wooster), in this major new revival at the Garrick Theatre in the West End.
Two-time Olivier Award-winner Griff Rhys Jones (Charley’s Aunt, An Absolute Turkey, ‘Fagin’ in Oliver!) stars as Harpagon and is joined by Lee Mack and Matthew Horne, with Saikat Ahamed, Ryan Gage, Simon Holmes, Andi Osho, Michael Webber, Ellie White and Katy Wix.
Harpagon is an extremely wealthy man, and the only thing he cares about more than his money is protecting his money – he suspects everyone of trying to steal his riches. He doesn’t even want his children getting their grubby hands on his assets, and thus sets out to wed them off to wealthy spouses. But this money matchmaker may have to rethink his stance when the true feelings of his children are revealed – will he allow them to follow their hearts, or will his heart be consumed by the gold? Passion and purse strings clash in Moliere’s rip roaring comedy.
