David Mitchell makes his West End debut as William Shakespeare in Upstart Crow. Best known as one half of comedy duo Mitchell and Webb, he has appeared in the Channel 4 series Peep Show and Would I Lie To You? on the BBC.
Gemma Whelan reprises her television appearance as Kate. Best known for playing Yara Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, her stage credits include the Pinter at the Pinter season opposite Danny Dyer and Martin Freeman.
The Upstart Crow cast is completed by Helen Monks as Susanna, Rob Rouse as Bottom, Steve Speirs as Burbage, Mark Heap as Dr John Hall, Danielle Phillips, Jason Callender and Rachel Summers.
Set in 1605, audiences meet William Shakespeare after he’s written Measure for Measure and All’s Well That Ends Well. But, both plays didn’t go down very well with the British public.
