History

Officially opened by the Queen in 1991, the Sheffield Arena cost £34 million to build. Its first ever concert was by Paul Simon, and it also hosted the 1991 World Student Games as a gymnastics hall. It has since become a popular touring venue for musicians visiting the region.

Its resident sports team are the Sheffield Steelers.
