How far would you go to get what you want?
This all-female killer cult classic is set to storm the Arts Theatre for the first time this March following its Off-Broadway critical acclaim!
A spoof of Broadway musicals such as Gypsy and Mame, as well as the films ‘All About Eve’ and ‘The Bad Seed’, Ruthless! The Musical tells the story of the beautiful and talented 8 year old Tina Denmark and her obsessive pursuit of fame.
Dancing on Ice judge Jason Gardiner will play agent Sylvia St. Croix alongside Olivier Award-winner Tracie Bennett, Harriet Thorpe (Great Britain), Lara Denning (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Kim Maresca (Ruthless!, Off-Broadway).
The children alternating the role of Tina Denmark will be Charlotte Breen, Fifi Bloomsbury-Khier, Lucy Simmonds and Anya Evans.
Eight-year-old Tina Denmark is born to entertain. With the help from her domineering agent Sylvia St. Croix and the tentative support of her mother Judy, a boring housewife, she stubbornly pursues stardom.
Sylvia encourages Tina to audition for her school’s production of Pippi in Tahiti: The Musical. Miss Myrna Thorn, third-grade teacher and unfulfilled actress, casts the untalented, but well-connected, Louise Lerman as the lead and Tina as her understudy.
After "begging nicely and saying please," Tina hangs Louise from the catwalk with a skipping rope so that she can play the lead role.
What follows is bloody, uproarious, and packed full of showbiz! This 90 minute roller coaster ride through the world of Broadway, child actors, stage mothers, parenthood, fame and unbridled ambition is not to be missed.
